A delivery set is a collection of essential medical instruments and supplies used during childbirth to assist in the safe delivery of a baby. This set typically includes items needed for both the mother and the newborn, as well as tools for healthcare professionals to manage the delivery process. Delivery sets are used in hospitals, clinics, and even in home births (when supervised by a trained professional, such as a midwife).

Key Components:

1. For the Mother:

   • Sterile Drapes: Used to maintain a sterile environment during the delivery process.

   • Surgical Gloves: To maintain hygiene and prevent infection for both the healthcare provider and the mother.

   • Perineal Pads: For use after delivery to absorb fluids and ensure hygiene.

   • Local Anesthetic (if required): For pain management during delivery, such as during an episiotomy or stitches.

   • Sutures or Staples: For repairing any tears in the perineum or other areas after childbirth.

   • Scissors or Clamps for Episiotomy (if necessary): Used to perform and repair an episiotomy if required during delivery.

   • Intravenous (IV) Cannulas and Fluids: For administering fluids, medications, or pain relief during labor.

2. For the Newborn:

   • Sterile Gauze and Towels: For cleaning the newborn after birth, as well as stimulating breathing.

   • Cord Clamp: To clamp the umbilical cord once the baby is delivered, preventing blood loss and facilitating safe cutting of the cord.

   • Scissors or Cord Cutters: To cut the umbilical cord after it has been clamped.

   • Suction Bulb: Used to clear the baby’s airways (mouth and nose) of mucus or amniotic fluid to help with breathing.

   • Newborn Clothing/Blanket: For warming and wrapping the newborn after delivery.
